- Misri, also known as rock sugar or candy sugar, is produced using a solution derived from sugarcane (ganna) juice and the sap of the Palmyra palm tree (Taad ka ped). The process involves pouring this sugary solution into containers that have threads suspended inside. As the solution gradually dries, sugar crystals begin to form and accumulate around the threads. These crystals develop when the supersaturated sugar solution cools, allowing the sugar to crystallize.
- Mishri can also relieve stomach pain when combined with neem leaves. Take 10 to 12 fresh neem leaves and about 10 grams of mishri, consume them together, and your stomachache should subside within a few minutes.
- Mishri can also aid with respiratory issues when combined with black pepper (kali mirch) and milk cream (malai). If you experience difficulty breathing, mix two teaspoons of milk cream with a pinch of black pepper and a little powdered sugar candy. Consume this mixture before bedtime for relief.
- Mishri has long been incorporated into numerous Ayurvedic remedies and has demonstrated effectiveness in alleviating cough. It helps clear the throat, soothes the mouth, and loosens mucus, offering prompt relief.
